We are seeking a passionate, patient, and highly skilled Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to work one-on-one with an exceptional Year 4 boy with Autism and Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) at Fairgreen International School.
This is a school-based role supporting an intelligent and articulate child who has previously experienced extended school refusal and sensory dysregulation. The goal is to support his successful reintegration into the classroom, build trust, and help him navigate the school day in a way that honours his needs, interests, and pace.
About the Student

- Challenges: Struggles with English and writing tasks.
- Diagnosis: Autism with a PDA profile.
- Support Needs: Sensory and nervous system regulation are key areas of support within the busy school environment.
- Therapy: Attends occupational therapy (OT) and meets with a psychologist (working on emotional regulation and learning strategies).
Role Overview
We are looking for a dedicated professional who can seamlessly integrate into the classroom environment to provide tailored support. Key responsibilities include:
- Low-Demand Support: Support his learning and classroom participation in a low-demand, interest-led way.
- Relationship Building: Build a strong, trusting relationship to help him feel safe, secure, and regulated at school.
- Creative Adaptation: Work alongside the class teacher to adapt tasks creatively to the child’s interests (e.g., using science or history to encourage literacy).
- Demand Avoidance Strategies: "Disguise" demands, manage transitions smoothly, and facilitate engaging activities throughout the school day.
- Collaboration: Work closely with parents, school staff, and therapists to ensure a consistent and supportive environment across all settings.
- Emotional Intelligence: Be flexible and confident in knowing when to gently challenge him, when to step back, and when to facilitate a sensory break.
Ideal Candidate
- Experience: Qualified LSA, Primary/Elementary Teacher, or equivalent experience.
- Specialization: Experience working with Autism and PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance) is essential.
- Skillset: Highly skilled in sensory regulation and emotional regulation using PDA-friendly/trauma-informed approaches.
- Personality: Creative, patient, and confident in tailoring support to a learner’s emotional state. Passionate about helping neurodivergent children rediscover joy and confidence in a school setting.

- Diversity: Male or Female applicants welcome.
